Kiden uses her time stopping abilities on a rival during a fight in high school which accidentally causes one of her teachers to get shot. Kiden disappears after the incident. Cameron Palmer, the teacher debilitated by her student's bullet, tries to kill herself.

Kiden saves Cameron from her suicide attempt and the two try and work out the mess that Kiden's mutant powers have made of both their lives. Kiden's power leads her to a prostitute with claws popping from the back of her hands.
